1997 Ford F-150 mass air flow

Backfires when trying to start. When finaly starts idols smooth but backfires when you give it gas. Computer says its mass air flow, does this sound right.

More likely that the backfiring is what damaged the MAF sensor, i believe might have other issue causing the backfiring. check out our article on backfiring at https://www.2carpros.com/first_things/why_does_an_engine_backfire.htm
