My heating / air conditioning blend door opens and closes randomly. I replaced the potentiometer and nothing changed. I took it to my mechanic and he said the new potentiometer was bad because his ohm meter readings didn't change when he operated it. I tested it myself and found the readings between the first and 3rd terminals to move smoothly between.6 and 4.9 on the 20K ohm scale. I have no idea whether this is a good reading. I would like to know if the potentiometer sounds like the problem and also what operates the door - could the problem could be caused by a vacuum leak?
