I have had this Ford for about a year now. When I got the truck it had many problems from poor maintenance and care from the previous owner.
When the weather is hot (I live in Florida so it gets real hot) I can drive the truck fine for about 45 minutes to an hour and then I will have gas troubles, The engine will backfire, lose performance and eventually die. If I let the truck sit until the sun goes down I can then go crank it up and it starts up and runs fine until the hot weather comes back. I get no indicaion of the engine overheating.
We are just entering into the warmer months and the truck ran great all winter but as soon as it got hot again the truck stalls.

Take a look at the distributor is there a gray box on the side with wire connector? If yes that is the TFI thick film ignition module. They go bad a crap out at high temps.

I just recently replaced the TFI module but was told that PIP sensor (inside of the distributor) was bad but was told this would not affect performance.

Profile Ignition Pickup would be my second choice. Do not see many fail but after 14yrs it is likely. Not a reliable test unless it completly fails. It is responsible to signal TFI crank position and RPM so if it fails TFI will not fire coil.
Good luck
