1986 Ford F150 with 120,000 miles.

My Ford 1986 F150 cranks and runs down the road about a mile, then stalls. After it stalls, I can put the truck in neutral and the engine runs fine until I put it back in drive again. It will not run when I put it back in drive.

I can kill the engine and recrank it and it will run again for another mile or so until it stalls again. I have to continue to recrank the engine to get down the road.

What's wrong?

Things to check:
Fuel filter could be partially obstructed.

Your TFI may be on its last legs. The one in my carbureted 85 F150 4.9L (300cu in) 6 died suddenly.

Electrical parts tend more to fail when hot.
