Indicator says no oil pressure

2003 Ford Explorer 4.6 Liter V8 4wheel drive 123,000 km
Automatic 4 door---indicator says no oil pressure, oil is ok
already replaced sending unit --oil pressure gauge completely flat -- warning indicator on instrument panel says low oil pressure-- any suggestions?

Hi there to be on the safe side you should have the oil pressure tested with an external gauge, this is screwed into the oil pressure switch port and a true oil pressure reading is given, with this information you will know if you have any real concerns.

Thanks for your reply Mark (mhpautos) but where would I get an external oil pressure gauge? Any suggestions
as to where I could borrow one without actually having to buy it?

Hi there,

I would ring your local workshop, they should charge only about 1/2 Hr to test. Or try local spare parts shop and see what they have, ask any mechanically minded friends they may be able to help. As I am in Australia, I'm not sure as to what services you can contact there for the hire of this tester.
