2005 Ford Explorer Clicking Noise When Started Cold

When I Start My Truck It Makes A Clicking Noise Like Valves Or Somthing But When It Warms Up It Dosent Do It As Much It HAs 170,000 Miles And HAs Been Well Taken Care Of Do Yall Know What It Is

Try running some 0w-30 and see how the vehicle runs then.

0w-20 also. Either one. If that doesnt work go thicker and try 10w-30.

Either its not gettign oil fast enough for preoiling or the vehicles oil is too thin and theres too much of a clearence between the lifters and rods or rods and rockers.

Well I Use What The Owners Manuel Calls For 5W20. Now That It HAs Alot Of Miles Would You Think Thats Too Thin Or Could It Be The Timing Belt The Timing Belt Has Not Been Replaced Before. After The BElt Gets Replaced Since The Truck HAs Alot Of Miles I Think I Will Try 10W30 For BEtter Portection Thanks Guys

5w20 is thin for that many miles.

Could be teh timing belt if its too badly worn, but it shouldnt be it since it goes away when warm.

Ive Been Using 5W20 Since It Waas New. So Then What Weight Should I Go For? 10W30 Sounds Awfully Thick

10w30 aint bad at all.

I run 10w30 in all my vehicles no matter what. If you want at least use 5w30.

I use 10w40 in all my fords, seems to me they like the thicker oil. The 2002 taurus or the 87 f150. Or even the 72 torino.

170,000 is alot of miles. Expect the clearence to be up. Thick oil wouldnt harm you at all.
