Engine problem
2004 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 45000K miles

I posted below a few days ago, heading 2004 explorer intermittent rough idle. Please someone respond before I take it to a shop. Code a week ago was P0316. What on earth do I check first.

Maybe no one answered this one because there is no P0316 in ford's PCM! Try getting that code looked at again please, Ford shows P0314 then jumps to P0320! When you get the rough idle try unplugging the MAF and see if it improves. Thats on the air box just above the air filter.

Was checked with a ODB II meter. P0316 means misfire on startup first 1000 rpm's. What do you check?

Ok I found it in mitchell. Check the fuel injectors and plug wires. Also a possible loose connection at PCM connector.

Newer Explorers had problems with fuel injectors. They tend to stick under certain conditions.
