Air Conditioning problem
2003 Ford Explorer V8 Automatic

My a/c compressor actually BLEW UP! There is a gaping hole in the side of it. Mechanic says it'll cost 2 grand to replace compressor and drive belt and other related items. Does this seem like a fair estimate or is that enough info for you to determine that.

I had the same problem. Today I took my 2005 (just out of warranty 3,000 miles ago) and come to find out the a/c compressor blew a hole in it. My mechanic called Ford to find out that they are having a lot of problems with this problem. I suggest that everyone that has a problem with this needs to contact Ford so we can get a large list of issues for this so that it can be put on the recall list. Otherwise, if the problem is not given to the Ford Company they will not know about all the issues out there. Lets hope we all have good luck with this.
