A vacuum leak will give you a lean mixture, so that is most likely why you are getting the codes. Additionally, it will cause the engine to run poorly. Find the leak. Chances are it is going to the HVAC system. Repair it and I bet the problem goes away.

Let me know what you find.

Thank you for the reply. Where could I find the leak. The leak comes from the back of the engine but I cannot find it. Could it be between the firewall and dash?

I have a 93 ford explorer. Rebuilt 6 cylinder engine with 80k. Rebuilt r-134 a/c system( condenser, accumulator and compressor) The system is not blowing cold as it should. I check the accumulator, I believe that is the piece that has the orifice in it, and it seems to be working fine. Creating lots of condensation and is very cold to the touch. However the air still only blows cool. Not as cold as it should. Where and how should I check for the problem. Thank you.

I rebuilt the a/c and bought all new parts to convert the r-12 into r-134. Yeah I am not real sure on what the parts are called. It is manual temp control. I don't have anything but wrenches lol.

I don't believe I need to charge it. I took it to the shop and they hooked up to their guages and said that it had the proper pressure. And like I said everything is cold until it reaches the cab of the truck. What would I use the home kit for?

No I believe we just cleaned the evaporater core. And we did add the right amount of oil. I am getting answers from Autozone that it sounds like my blenddoor on the truck isn't functioning right beacuase an actuator is bad and isn't pulling the right amount of vacuum.

1997 Ford Explorer Eddie B. 4.0L 127K mi. For the past two summers the A/C has been blowing progressively warmer air. This year (2 weeks ago) I brought it to the shop to have the system recharged (134a). It was low on freon. The tech said I could have a slow leak and also added the dye. No problem. They returned the vehicle, and as I was driving the transporter back to the shop the A/C began to blow warmer and warmer air. (The transporter said he noticed the problem driving from the shop.) At idle the A/C blows cool air, however as RPM increases so does the temperature of the air. Even if the vehicle is parked. The shop checked the system when we got there and all pressures were correct at both low RPM and high RPM. The tech said the compressor and everything else outside the vehicle was functioning properly. He said the problem could be with the blend door. The recycled air, vent/floor and blend door are actuated with vaccuum. As RPM is increased the position of the blend door actuator does not change (none of the actuators change position). The tech can not find the problem. "Everything seems to be working fine". This happens when the A/C is in the MAX AC setting or the AUTO setting. The heater works good. Floor vent works good. Fresh recycled works good. And the AC works good when at idle but as RPM increases (even parked) the air out gets warmer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just happen to have the same problem with my 1996 LTD Explorer 5.0L. The problem I had was the A/C would come on work fine then cut itself off and blow hot air. The technician told me it was the Blend Door. I had it changed to the tune of $1,000 dollars. Haven't had a problem since. This was two years ago. The have to take the dash apart to get to it. $300 for door, and $700 for labor.

Will having your engine coolant flushed cause your a/c to stop blowing cold air?

Hi there,

No this will not directly affect the A/C, I would just have the power wire to the compressor checked, it may have been disconnected by accident, if that is OK have the pressures tested and check the charge of refrigerant is not low, start here.
