Wheel makes a metal twisting noise?

I have a 96 ford explorer 177,000 miles and when I make a hard left turn the drivers side front wheel or whatever makes a like a metal twisting noise?

Hello,

There are few components that can make that noise. It could be the tire rod end. As you turn it makes the noise.
Over time the bushings on the tie rods will wear off and create noise.
Do a visual inspection. Check for excessive play on the joints and also look to any broken or damaged parts.
