Engine Performance problem
2003 Ford Expedition V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 110K miles

Fuel pump most likely? I cant find the test port on this thing to check but have heard it could be the pump. I would like to know before shelling out $$. I have cleared the error several times and it comes back within a day. On a full tank it starts quick almost every time. After that, hard start (3-5 sec). Also seems to be a bit more pinging when cold and going up hill. This has been going on for over a year and was really just an annoyance but now 1st smog is due so its time to deal with it. PLEASE HELP. Thank you very much.

Running rich:

Possible causes include a bad O2 sensor, excessive fuel pressure (bad fuel pressure regulator or plugged return line), leaky fuel injectors, dirty air filter or restricted air inlet, or a defective coolant sensor that prevents the engine management system from going into closed loop mode.

So I see you don't even list the fuel pump as a possible cause. Should I check those other items first? Air flow and filter checks out ok. I will move on to O2 sensor and fuel pressure regulator and then the coolant sensor. Thanks.
