I have two questions. First is, my 1993 ford escort lx, 1.9 engine. The lights went out on my dash I checked the fuses and they are all good. Is there bulbs that I need to change and if there is how do I replace them. If not what do I do then. Also my driver side seatbelt has an issue. One day it started not going back like it was off track. The seatbelt motor is running all the time, but the actual seatbelt wont go back, what is wrong and how do I fix it. Oh my car has a hundred thousand eight hundred and eight miles currenly on it. Please help me. Im desperate. Nikita

First make sure the switch that sets the brightness of the dash lights is adjusted properly. If that does not help I would think it is a wiring harness connection for your instrument cluster. Especially if all the lights went at once. This will require removing the dash panels to remove the instrument cluster. Let me know if you need specific instructions.

For now I would pull the fuse for the seatbelts before you burn up the motor. Somewhere in the mechanism is a park position. If the seatbelt is not retracting it will not get to that point. If you can clear the jam you should be ok.

Good luck and let us know. :)

Did all the dash lights go out at once? Do your parking lights work?

If they all went at once then I would test the switch. You should have 12 volts on both the in and out wire with the switch on. If that is ok you will need to check that the connection for the instrument panel is clean and tight.

If there are only a few lights out in the instrument cluster remove it and change the bulbs.

As far as the seatbelt jam goes, can you move it by hand? You will probably need to remove any trim and take a good look. Is there something jamming the belt? Is the track the belt runs on bent? Does it need greased? Is the linkage moving? Etc, etc, etc.

Please use the same thread to correspond so that all can share and you are easy to find. I am notified when anyone replies here but not of new threads.

Good luck and let us know. :)
