We recently were driving down the road when our power steering pulley broke and 2 of the 3 bolts came out, causing the serpentine belt to shred and our car stalled out.
We got in towed home, took everything apart, got a new pulley, bolts and belt, put everything back together but now it won't start.
Hooked a battery charger up to it all night, didn't help, tried to jump it with another car, still didn't help. We are just stuck with what could be wrong. When we go to start it, it sounds like it wants to start it just won't kick over so we know it's not the starter. Any and all suggestions would be great. We have 2 kids with one on the way and need a car! Thanks!

The same thing happened to our 98-escort wagon. What ended up happing was a piece of the alternator belt got into the timing case and made the timing jump about 50 degrees. Our belt was fine though. I'll I can think of is that the piece of belt protected it. It took two mechanics before we finally took it apart ourselves. Don't know if you figured it out or if this is your problem but it may be worth looking in to.
