Ford escort ZX2: Recently the engine stalls after starting unless you push on gas pedal and run engine fast. Car will stall unless gas pedal is pressed. Doesn't matter if in park or in drive. Engine starts every time with no problem. Could this be a faulty or plugged catalytic converter?

Check to see alll the air hoses going to the throtle body. Ckeck for leaks worn ot hoses or broken. Then try changing the idle control valve. Look at www. Kragen. Com and tipe ur car model then go to replacement parts and search for the part and see what it looks like so u can find it in your car. Its always on the throtle body and easy to change.
