Steering problem
1997 Ford Escort Front Wheel Drive Manual

Hi, my car shoots to the right when accelerating, but the steering wheel jerks left. Had tracking checked and sorted, but this didnt solve it. Just need to know if its safe, which I doubt, what the problem could be, and the potential costs of having it fixed.
thanks for your help

Hello,

If your Alignment is correct on the vehicle then next check your brakes for a frozen Caliper.

Yes, if the caliper is locked up where it is keeping pressure on the brake rotor.

Also does it pull to the right when slowing down?

No it doesnt. In normal driving it pulls slightly to the right and then shoots out to the right when I accelerate. But the steering wheel goes left? My step dad says it could be a tyre problem? Im gonna get it checked tomorrow, whats the best way of describing to the mechanic the problem so he knows what hes looking for. Thanks for your help

Just describe what it is doing. Like above.

I wouldn't think it was a tire problem because you said you had a front end alignment done. And most alignment centers will check the tires.

You say the steering wheel turns to the left how far? I could be a Steering Rack problem.
