1994 Ford Escort 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

my engine get s overheated because the fan blower starts too late(if I turn on the ac then the gaudget temperatures will go down). Only when I am in traffic. On highway no issues. Thx

Check and test the engine coolant temperature sensor and engine temperature guage sender/switch

So the fan does come on by itself just too late?
