1994 Ford Escort Itermintent rough idling, poor accleration

Engine Performance problem
1994 Ford Escort 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 165K miles

6 months ago the car was tuned up with new wires.
Ran fine. Recently I suddenly get this intermitent problem where it idles rough, poor acceleration. Then suddenly the problem is gone, but returns. This has happened 4 times now. All the wires look good with no crossing.
Any thoughts comments, etc.?

Does the weather have any effect on the way its running and if so recheck tune up as you may have a defective part
check if fuel clean and not contaminated
check vacuum hoses
touch twist check for lose or collapsed vacuum lines

The weather doesn't seem to have a bearing. I could go out now, start it and have it run fine. Park it at the store and encounter the problem. It may also change performance while driving. The problem comes and problem goes. If the problem was with bad parts, you'd think it would be a constant.
