Brakes problem
1992 Ford Escort 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I just went to start my car, and when I put the key in the ignition it didn't move. I couldn't start my car; all power works. (Or as much as I can tell, the dome light still comes on, doors still unlocks, and it stills beeps with the keys in the ignition, and the door open.) I tried pressing the brakes, and they were really stiff, and I can't even get the car out of park. I don't know what to do. Please help.

Hi, Thanks for using 2CarPros. Com. So it sounds like your ignition tumbler is locked and there is a couple of things that could have caused this but heres what I want you to do.

First, put the key in the ignition and attempt to rotate it while wigging the steering wheel, sometimes when the ignition is locked it takes a bit of strenth to take the pressure off enough to be able to turn the key

If that did'nt work check to make sure you key has not become damaged or bent. Look to see if it is really worn down, if you have another key try using it.

Put the key in the ignition and wiggle it while turning clockwise if that doesnt work try inserting the key all the way and then pulling it back very slightly and turning it forward.
Try thesse things and let me know your results. Thanks
