At times my car will not start when it's in park. It is an automatic. If I put it in neutral it will start just about every time (cold days it may or may not start). But when it is in park it rarely starts. I have changed the neutral safety switch with no luck.

Any idea what the problem is?

Thanks tnash10

Either the linkage on the transmission needs an adjustment or the switch. Unless on of the wires at the switch inside the connector is bad, unplug the connector, look at the pins to make sure one of them didn't push out.

I also have the same problem with my ford escort it wont start in park, but it will start in neutral, and the transmission has a hard time finding any of the gears. Would anyone happen to know why this happens and what part I would have to replace.
