My escape has a misfire 5 cylinder
I was told to try tuneup which was done
25,000 ago. What else should I try
I get the parts for my mechanic and he charges me for
Labor. What should I get for tuneup other than wires
and plugs

Thanks

Hello,

OK, actually the first thing I would do since it has coil overs is to change the location of the coil Move the #5 coil to #4, if misfire code moves to the #4 cylinder then replace the coil.

Already did that twice and within 100 miles ran crappy
again and light back on either blinking or stays on
Going to try tuneup next with new wires and plugs
What other things would I change for a good tuneup
I have a friends mechanic doing but he doesn't speak
good English and hoping you can list what parts needed for
tuneup to maybe help my issue

OK, you say you relocated the Coil twice, did the same code show up or what. Please be as detailed as possible. As far as a good tune up, on newer vehicles - Plugs, Wires, Air Filter and PCV Valve if equipped.

This is a coil on plug system so it's usually a bad coil in that situation. If you have over 70K, change all the plugs too.

Cylinder 2 is misfiring intermittently. The only code that registers on the computer is cylinder 2 misfire. This has occurred off and on for the last two weeks. I have taken it to three different shops (including Ford and an electrical auto shop) over that time but still experience the same problem. Mechanics have replaced #2 coil, #3 coil, all 6 spark plugs, the plug boots, and six o ring gaskets.

One mechanic said if it is the fuel injector the computer would throw a different code, but I an beginning to fear this.

What else could be wrong? The wiring? Any suggestions of who I should take it to next?

A misfire on a specific cylinder should prompt you to check the sparkplug, compression and injector for no.2 cylinder
