2002 Ford Crown Victoria Automatic 455500 miles

I have a 2002 crown vic and drove it from getting gas and then over an extremely bumpy road and then it just died and the battery light came on all the lights and power windows and everytihng still worked after trying to boost it it did nothing at all, pressed the switch in the trunk still nothing tried leaving booster cables on for an hour and then it actually tried to turn over but just tried and then started clicking again and battery was dry. I tried a different battery and same thing. Any help or direction would be great I don't have any real tools for checking electrical things but maybe could be pointed in the right direction. Thank you.
