2000 Ford Contour wont start

I have a 2000 ford contour and it wont start acts like it not in park to start is there some sensor or something in there that effects it because some time I can shake it around or take it and shift it in low then put it back up into park it will start have any ideals

You have a neutral safety switch
check battery
check battery terminal and connections, clean and tighten if needed
check alarm system if equipped
check starter and its connectors
check small wire at the starter
