My 84 Bronco has been acting up. One day, the engine started running very rough. As soon as that happened, my brakes started acting up. I changed the master cylinder, and it seemed to help a little bit. After about a week though, they were worse. Now I can't stop! Is this two separate problems or is there something that could cause both issues? What happens if the brake booster goes? How can you tell if it's good? Any Info? Thanks

The brake booster works off of vacuum on 99% of vehicles out there.

If the booster is not getting vacuum (possibly from the engine running rough)
or if the booster fails. Then the master cylinder will not have any power assistance and the brake pedal will be very hard to press on enough to get the truck to stop.

Thanks for the info.
The pedal goes all the way down with very little resistance, it's a lot harder to push with the car off. Does that narrow it down any?

They seem to be braking more than working lately

You need to bleed the brakes,
or your new (probably rebuilt) master cylinder is bad.
