Engine Performance problem
1979 Ford Bronco V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

ive got a 79 bronco with a 351. It was running low on oil so I added some oil and some lucas oil stabilizer. Since then it seems like I have recieved a noisy lifter or rod. I pulled the valve cover gasket and checked the rod's for being bent and they were all ok. I also added some enging flush ran the motor and then flushed and changed the oil and did not seem to help. Any suggestions? How do I know if it is a lifter?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge could be the oil pump, engine bearings-clogged pick-up screen and oil galleries etc-

A lifter problem will be making a ticking/tapping noises -use a listening device/doctor's ear and probe the valve covers to identify what cylinders are making the noise or disconnect the sparkplug wire this will lessen the noise where the defective lifters/valves coming from.
