The gaskets can go either way and please refer to my previous post for more detail on the resonator/silencer. It is the same part just called different things. You only have to chose between which manufacture you want to go with. I don’t have experience with this specific parts so I can’t recommend one over the other. I would just read the reviews and make your choice.

Just to confirm, when installing the gaskets on the flanges, even though they don't look identical on both sides, it doesn't matter which way they are installed. Correct?

This is what the gasket should look like on both sides. What I normally do is put this gasket in each pipe with the black side facing the pipe and see if it fits better and go with that. There is no wrong way to put them in as they just crush between the pipes and seal the opening.
