My cars check engine light when on, code p0340 the camshaft code. Its been running rough, it jerks on first gear, sometimes the transmissions feels harder, and occasionally it takes 2-3 tries to turn on. Anyways I bought a sensor on A1 auto and I installed it but the car cranked but did not start with the new sensor. I put the old OEM sensor back in and it started fine. Did I not install the sensor right? Could the part be defective? I did not lubricate the new sensor when I inserted it.

Good morning,

Yes, it sounds like you either have a bad new sensor or the connector is damaged. Make sure the connector is clean and there is no damage to the ends. Check for corrosion.

I attached the flow chart for the cam sensor as well for you to follow.
