Engine warning light came on and a message saying, "Engine fault - have your vehicle repaired". Notice a lot of white smoke (believe it to be steam) from exhaust. Garage ran a diagnostic test but could not determine the fault. They reset the warning and told me to see how it got on. Now the steam reappears after the engine has warmed up, but the warning light does not come on. This car has a catalytic Converter and uses Ad-Blue, could it have anything to do with that?

Is the coolant level going down, but you don't see a leak? If so, you could have a bad head gasket.

Here are two guides to go over to help us confirm the issue:

If you remove the spark plugs and one is clean that will be the cylinder that is leaking. I have seen a product called Blue Devil which works pretty well but it can clog up the heater core. Please go over these guides and get back to us.
