Randomly while driving my car, seems to do it more if it's running. But I'm parked for awhile I will hear dinging, then on all one or a combination of these things will happen the car with a padlock over it will come on my dash board or an error message on my radio. All the needles on my instrument cluster do not work, power steering message, lights on stereo and temperature control flicker, my car jerks like the transmission is going out, especially when I stop. Sometimes the car shuts off. If the cruise control is on it will turn off. When the cruise control is on and it needs to speed up either automatically or when in push the button to gain speed it kicks in to like turbo mode. Like the rpm needle instantly goes to 6. It is kind of cool but it's scary when it just takes off around a corner with a diesel beside you. It snowed about a week ago car has been pretty much wet or covered in snow. Do not know if that makes a difference but it's pretty much been doing this constantly since then. Before I would just pull over and restart the car and most of the time it would start up and run just fine. Here lately it's like it's stuck in a bad mode and restarting it doesn't help. Ugh! Thinking about driving it off a cliff, lol.

Hi Jody,

It sounds like you have a positive battery cable or battery that might have an intermittent short. Let run the codes to see what comes up and load test the battery by following these two guides.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-battery-load-test

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Also check the battery cables to see if they are tight and clean.

Please run down these guides and report back.
