Engine stopped running

Engine stopped running while I was in backed up traffic. Dashboard lights we're on but the windows would not roll up or down. After 20 minutes the car started. I don't know if this is an issue with the TCM in the transmission.

We need to start with checking for codes. More then likely this is not an issue with the TCM as that is what controls the transmission. It could be an issue with the PCM but the codes will tell us a little more.

This sounds like a possible crankshaft position sensor issue but there are a number of other things that could cause this.

When this shut off, did you try to restart it and what did it do? Did it just crank and not start or did it not even turn over when you were trying to restart it?
