Yesterday, while I was driving, I had stopped for a red light when my car's engine just shut off. I turned the ignition off and restarted it again and successfully made it home. Now I am afraid of this happening again. Is this significant of a major/minor problem?

Since it had started right back, this should not be a major problem. It could be just that the idling speed was too low and the engine computer did not react fast enough to prevent the engine from stalling as you were stopped.

Try getting the air intake circuit cleaned, usually entails cleaning the idle air control valve and throttle body.

Would you know an approximate cost to have someone do this for me? I do not think I would be able to do it myself. I also do not want to be taken advantage of by a mechanic, since I am not sure how much it would cost.

I forgot to ask you this: How long would it take to do the cleaning of the idle air control valve and throttle body?

Sorry for the delay in replying.

The above mentioned job should not cost you more than an hour of labor charge.
