Have a chirping sound when you first start it. Goes away and then comes back when you accelerate. Stops when you let off the gas and makes the sound again when you turn the vehicle off. We’ve ruled out the idler pulley, tensioner, and belt. Could it be the water pump pulley or a mount or a solenoid in the starter? Thanks!

Hi,

Chances are it is the belt. The starter wouldn't do this. I guess a water pump can make a noise, but it's not usually a chirping sound.

How was the belt inspected as far as condition and tension? Also, I want you to try something. When you hear the noise, pour a small amount of water on the belt to see if the sound changes. If it does, the belt is the likely suspect.

Also, take a look at this link. You may find it helpful.

If possible, record it and upload the noise so I can hear it.

Take care and let me know what you find.

Joe
