When cold, the engine cuts-out during light acceleration, and does so occasionally until fully warm.
It is like spark or fuel is temporarily gone, then rapidly returns.

Problem is getting worse.
This has been going on for weeks now, but would never happen when I was leaving work at night, only after first start of the day, when leaving for work in the afternoon. Recently, it started doing it at night when leaving work, too.

It was not ever happening when I was accelerating a little harder, when getting on the freeway, however, that recently happened.
I noticed recently, that if I am looking at the tachometer when it occurs, the tachometer jumps up pretty high, then back to normal when it's running again.
I would think it would drop to zero, not jump upward!
I recently found my scanner after moving, and plugged it in, there was no check engine light ever, but found a fault code: P1189 "Engine Oil Pressure Switch Circuit"
It does seem possible, that if the computer sees no oil pressure, it might shut the engine down, but then it is running again, just that quickly. I would think if it saw no oil pressure and shut it down, it would not restart in its own. I have never yet had to engage the starter to get it running again. It just resumes running again, as if ignition or fuel suddenly returned.
To be safe, I picked-up a new pressure switch, but for a few days now, I have checked for the code to return, and it has not.

Any ideas?
It seems odd to me, that it never happens when fully warmed-up, but it happens much more frequently now, when cold or only partially warm.

That is exactly what is happening. The computer thinks there is no oil pressure due to a faulty sensor or wiring connection at he sensor is the problem most of the time. Do you have an oil gauge or light? If the oil pressure is good I would replace the sensor and check the connection here is the location.

Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Cheers, Ken

Hi Ken!
No oil pressure gauge, and the oil light never illuminates.

Here is a video or two, showing tachometer behavior during the brief (microsecond) engine cutout events.

In both of these, you can see the tachometer jump upward, whenever the engine cuts-out.

This happens when the ignition system has a misfire. I would do a complete tune up using AC Delco plugs and wires. Here is a guide to help:

Please let us know what happens. Can you send images of the spark plugs?

I plan to do that, but a misfire on all cylinders?
I was wondering if maybe my ICM or fuel pump was going bad, but this never happens when fully warmed-up.
It happens a lot, when cold.

It is not just a miss, it totally cuts out.
Due to the oil pressure switch code, I did change that switch or sensor out, even though I have never seen it come back after erasing it.
Today (well, yesterday now) was the first day I have driven it, since I replaced that oil pressure switch (I replaced it last night).
As expected, the condition acted-up when cold.
The old switch did not show any evidence of leaking.

Yep, it sounds like the ignition module coil pack is going out I have replaced many. I would try a used one if you do want to spend the cash for a new set up, I would do plugs and wires as well.

So, I decided to take the ICM out of the LeSabre I own, that is sitting in the garage.
I did not want to buy a whole bunch of stuff, and not know what cured the problem.
The other possible culprit I thought about, was a crank position sensor or bad balancer, harder to get to, so I thought I would try the easiest and most-likely culprit, the ICM!
It cured my problem.
Several days now, and each day with a cold start brings the same results, she runs awesome!

I bought a new ICM, and will do the tune-up items separately.
