I just got a new ECM and now I have to relearn the key to start the engine, but I have a starting disabled indication on the dash. Tried to reset the key now it won't start.

With the replacement of an PCM or BCM there is a lot of programming that needs to be done before the system will work. First the PCM needs to have the correct VIN in it for the vehicle, then the BCM needs to be set up to recognize the replacement PCM as a valid part. Next the crankshaft sensor relearn has to be done on the PCM. Finally you need to program the keys into the system using a scan tool as the mismatch of the other parts erases the key information from the system.
What was the reason the original PCM was replaced for?
