I had the brake fluid changed about a year ago. I made a right turn about 6 months ago and the DSC popped up. I scanned with my Foxwell 510 elite scanner. I reset it then out of the blue it popped up again, this time it affected the transmission limp mode. I stopped and turned it off and everything was normal, but DSC light was still on. Now it says permanent code. How can I get it to delete? Will I need to go to the dealer or a Snap-On Scanner?

Let's start with what code this is. More than likely this is a speed sensor related code, so we need to find out what it is and then do some testing to confirm what the issue is.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Assuming this is a wheel speed issue, here are a couple guides that will help with this.

Let me know the actual code and we can go from there.

Thanks

These are the codes that my Foxwell gave me, 5EE4, D1DF, D98E, 9C76, 93FC, 9B57, 9BD7, DSC5 7 DSC, 29CC. I don't know if these are BMW codes or what. Also Engine DME, Dynamic Drive ARS, Chassis Integration Modules CM, Safety Information Module.

Okay. These are BMW Hex codes, so they are harder to get diagnostic info on it.

The 5EE4 is telling us that the DSC (dynamic stability control) has an internal pressure sensor issue.

The others are just telling us that we have an issue with the DSC except for the 29CC. This is telling us that there is a misfire on multiple cylinders so that is not going to be related.

There are a couple others that are not related either but let's focus on the 5EE4 code.

The reason we should focus on this code is because this is telling us that we have an internal failure which means we simply need to replace the unit.

I am attaching the info below on how to replace this which is what it appears it needs. Clearly, I would want to get more detail on this but the manual does not have any testing for this code. Unfortunately, it is pretty clear.

If it were me, and the vehicle is driving properly then I would attempt to put some more miles on it before I replace it. This way we can see if the code will clear or not.

Okay, I'll drive it some more. Everything works, cruise control and it only goes into limp mode if I don't take off normal. Then I just pulled over and cut it off and restarted and all is well. I found a company online that will repair the module for $150.00. I'm thinking of sending it to them. Read that it's a common problem with the module.

Oh, that is great. If that is the case, then I would do that as well. I agree, this is a common enough issue that I am confident that this is the issue, but I would want more proof before I recommend someone else spend money on a module. If it were mine, I would feel confident about spending that money but at $150.00 I think it is the best way to go.

I just wanted to let you know that I sent the module to Cheap ABS. Com. For $200.00 he repaired it and that took care of my problem. All the lights are off and the car is back to normal. Thanks for all the input helping me with this.
