So when I crank my car it says "driver start control malfunction". Park drive and neutral are all lit up on my gear shift. When I put it in reverse it jolts really bad. Please help me!

Sounds like this has a control module issue or possible sensor issue.

Does this do this every time you start the vehicle or did it only do it once?

If this is repeatable then we need to do two things. First, we need to scan for codes. Here is a guide that will help with this:

Next we need to consult a dealer as this is most likely a warrantable issue. I know you are a little higher in mileage but if this is a powertrain issue then you should still be covered under that warranty.

Either way, let's get the codes and go from there. Thanks

Unfortunately, we never heard back to know what the issue was. However, they may respond as it was this was from earlier this year.

If not, let's take the same approach to try and figure this out. We need to start with checking for codes and find out what is there as I suspect that will find out what is happening once we know the codes.

Let me know what codes you have, and we can go from there. Thanks

Turn off traction control. Then your engine allows it to reset. Start it back up and your errors should clear. If not turn off all assists like accident, lanes, etc. Turn off car, and restart. Should clear those errors out and good to go.

Thanks, ALASHRAM,

That is definitely worth a try. Hopefully someone will try this and get back to us on if this worked or not.

Thanks again and let us know if there is anything we can help you with in the future.
