Computer problem
2001 Dodge Stratus 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 118 K miles

I have a 2001 Dodge Stratus that is giving me a problem. The problem is when I start the car, it shuts off after about 2 minutes. I try to start it again but nothing happen (no sound) when I turn the key.
So I took it to a mechanic and he said that when it cuts off, I should hit the car's computer lightly while turning the key, in order to start the car. The car does that almost everyday. So I took it to another mechanic and he said that the problem might not be the computer but the cranking sensor.
So I'm kind of confused of what the problem really is because I don't want to spend a lot of money on it if it's not going to fix the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Welcome to the forum. If your saying the starter won't even crank, make sure the battery has a full charge and the connections are good. Have you tried cranking in neutral when the problem occurs? The smaller wire at starter goes hot with the key in the crank position. When the problem occurs, can you tell if there is a load on the starter circuit? Turn on the lites, watch the lites when you try to crank, if they stay bright and no reaction, open circuit to the starter, somewhere.
