IF you do, check the fuel pressure to start.

I was thinking it was the fuel sym cause it feels like its running out of gas. He just took all the injectors out and cleaned them and took fuel pump out and it comes on but no fuel comes out and we put that fuel pump in like 3 ms ago does that mean its the fuel pump?

Here are my thoughts. The fuel filters must be replaced when a pump is done. Two reasons. One if will void the warranty on it if you didn't and two, it can kill a new pump if it is partially restricted.

So, assuming you did replace it, then the next thought is. What Brand. The ONLY chrysler fuel pump replacement I use is one from the dealer. I have had way too many failures with aftermarket and refuse to use them again.

So much for thoughts. Can you hear the pump run when the key is turned to the run postion from the off position. IF you aren't sure, put a funnel in the fuel tank filler neck to amplify the sound. Have someone else there while another turns the key. IF you hear it and have no fuel pressure, you likley need the pump.

IF you can't hear it, then you need to get to the connector to see of power is getting to the pump. IF power is there, then the pump is likley bad.

  • DODGE STRATUS
Dodge Stratus LS 2.5 v6 FI, 1998, 80,000 miles.
2 Front Wheel Drive, Automatic Transmission.

Starts fine but after about 1block drive it begins to miss terribly and limps home.

800 miles ago, while driving and without warning car stopped. Could not get it to start again.
Towed it home and a home-service mechanic replaced the distributor. That was his diagnosis.
Car ran well for 500 to 800 miles. Began to missfire ever so gradually, wiith the Check Engine Lite going on and off. Finally arriving at my present condition.

I can't get a hold of the mechanic and have had the car at a stand still for the past 5 weeks. For that reason and a lack of funds I am riding a bus to work.

Bought the Service Manual whic I am now reading.

Can you point me in a general direction with these details. I would appreciate it if were possible.
Thanks

With the info given one of the possible problems could be is the fuel pump. This may or maynot be some thing that you want to tackle. Thats because the fuel pump is in the tank. Allthough you can check it out with a fuel pressure gauge. If the pressure drops as the engine starts to stall the check if the fuel pump is working. If the pump semms to be running but the pressure drops then have the pressure regulater checked out. I hope this gives you some leads.

I would agree with the fuel pump I have had that problem b4 myself. If you ever drive a car very much with less than 1/4 tank of gas an electric pump will get hot because they cool off with the fuel and eventually short out. Well mine just decided on its own one day I was driving to the store and I got same symptoms but what was causing it once the fuel pump ran a lil bit it got hot and was trying to quit but after cooled off it done fine I replaced my pump and not a problem after im not gonna say it is the prob so you dont change it and be out money if not bt thats the best I can do for ya
