I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 mileage is 70,000. it sputters like it is going to run out of gas while you are accelerating. Do you think I need to replace the fuel pump, or can it be something else?

This could be the fuel pump, but we need to confirm this by checking the pressure when this is sputtering.

If the pressure is low or not steady when this is sputtering, then we need to start with the fuel filter which is combined with the regulator, and I am attaching that info below for your review.

If the filter and regulator are not the cause of this then the pump needs to be replaced.

Please run through this info and let me know what questions you have with this and what you find with the pressure.

Thanks
