1999 Dodge Ram

My truck cranks but will not start. I tried starter fluid didint work. The engine tried to start without it but failed. It pops every now and then. The fuel pump works I can hear it start up. Plus when I pump the pedal I can smell gas.

If it didn't start with starting fluid, chances are you have a really weak spark or none at all. I recommend checking that first. Here is the how to for checking.
