Wont start!

Ok I have no clue about cars at all and I read most of the froums and imat a loss. Oki have 1998 neon and I was driveing down the road when mycar slowed down to 10 mph even thought the gas was floored. I pulled off the road and the engin started shakeing so I turned it off. 20 min later tryed to start it and I only heard a clicking sound from the starter. The next day I tryed to look at it to see what I could do and the was no power at all. I went and got a new battery and then I got the clicking sound again but 2 weeks later once again my battery was completely dead. I have no clue anyhelp would bemuch greatful

Sounds like alternater is not charging the battery. It is probably charging just low enough that it isn't good. If the charge rate is less than 12.66 volts, replace it. HOw ever it should be charging around 13.8 to 14.8 V.

You have a short within the electrical system or your alternator is not putting out.
