My neon will not start. I have power so I know its not the battery. The last time that it started, it sounded let it was having a hard time. Now when I turn the key I have nothing. Do you think its the starter?

No starter response at all? First I would check the battery again, because it could have gone flat or not providing voltage.

Turn on the headlights and try to start it, do the lights dim or stay bright

get back so we can troubleshoot this.

I have cleaned the battery. I turn on the lights and try to start it. The lights don't dim and all I get is a clicking sound. It's a single click when I turn the key. So what do you think it is. I just replaced the battery in April of this year. So it's about three months old.

The click I belive is normal, relays and such from the power going on and off.

Since your getting no reponse with the lights I would be checking the neutral safty switch.

When you crank the engine does the vehicles parking brake or brake light on the instrument cluster illuminate when key is turned to start?

No I get no illumination on the brake light or the headlights. Do you think by any chance it might be the starter relay cutoff? Or am I looking at the worng area for fixing the problem? Please help

Im not saying headlights or brake lights outside, im saying the brake light warning light in the dash, does that go out and when turned to start does it reilluminate?

I have a feeling its a bad ignition switch or neutral safety switch since the lights arnt dimming.

If it was the starter or the relay it would usually click when trying to start, it would be click click click click click clicking away.

Both parts should be able to be brought in to a autopart store and have tested.
