Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Dodge Neon 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 98' neon with the 2.0 dohc in it. The problem I'm having is that when I start it the engine makes a ticking or slight knocking sound until it warms up. I'm not experiencing any power loss or decreasesd acceleration. Power and acceleratoin are comparable to a new car. Can anyone tell me why my car is doing this and how to remedy the problem. I have a family and can't afford to be without my car so would like to remedy a problem before it becomes major.

Suspect a faulty lifter because lifter are supposed to keep oil in them at all times car on or off if one starts going bad it will leak oil out of it when the car has set long enough to get cold, so when the car is started the lifter makes a ticking noise until oil is pumped up into the lifter again then it will quiten down. This is not a major problem but as time goes on it will get worse only way to fix is replace lifters
