I have just replaced my a/c and altanator belts and when I tried to start my car it clicked and the belts moved like an 8th of an inch but no cranking. It is our only car and we do not have money to take it in. We tried to get it jumped but it made no diffrence. The lights and radio work and it ran great before I replaced the belts. I had to replace them to pass state inspection because they failed.

Please Help A Marine?

UPDATE:
I took off the altanator belt and tried to start the car. Same resolt, even when jumping with another vehical. I used a maltimeter to check the battery power and the power for the starter relay fuse bolth read 12.60 v. I checked every electrical wire I could reach but nothing I have checked reads below 12. I do not know what else to check. I am at a loss. Headlights dim when ignition key is turned along with all other lights.

Welcome to the forum, I can't tell about your belt install procedure, my first thought is to make sure the battery has a full charge and the connections are good. If nothing else, take the battery off, take it to a national brand auto store, they can check it and recharge if necessary. In some cities the auto store will make house calls. They will come to your house and replace battery or whatever, if necessary. You can call them and ask?

Can't how belt replacement would cause a no start. Is click from relay? Battery terminals clean and tight?
