1999 Dodge Intrepid Oil Burning

My vehicle began burning significant amounts of oil and now the check engine light has just come on. The vehicle starts fine and runs ok. Smokes a little (whitish smoke)

For starters have the PCM (computer) scanned for codes. If the PCM sees a problem it will store a code that will help in diagnosing the problem, get back with the exact codes.
