1995 Dodge Intrepid dosent shift when car is hot.

I have a 95' intrepid. When it gets hot it dosent shift out of 1st gear. But when I pull over and shut the car off for a few minutes it will cycle through the gears going up. Then when I stop at a stop sign, it downshifts to 1st but will not shift out of 1st. What could be making it do this?

Under 'site menu' select 'how does it work' then select 'transmissions' at the bottom it explains the first things to do when this happens. If your fluid level is ok, it may not be a major repair, the fluid tells the story, it will smell or look different if it has internal clutch slippage. Ok
