1994 Dodge Intrepid Screeching

1994 Dodge Intrepid V8 Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 105000 miles

My daughter has a 1994 Dodge Intrepid with about 100,000 miles on it. Every morning in the winter when she goes out to warm up her car we hear this screeching sound. She turns it on, the sound immediately begins - it's a high-pitched noise - and then it goes away after a minute or two at the most. It seems to only happen when it's cold outside. It has been doing this for quite some time but because the car runs great otherwise, we have been kind of ignoring it. I feel that it's time to do something about it now and we're wondering what it could possibly be and does it sound expensive to fix. Thank you
