Engine Performance problem
1995 Dodge Dakota V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 115k miles

I have a 95 Dakota, 5.2 V8. It generally starts pretty well on the first try. If I let it sit after starting, it can sit and idle by itself for as long as I want it to. If I drive it for a bit, then come to a stop, the RPMs drop, and starts to idle rough, or it just stalls completely. Depends on how long it's been running (the longer the worse). When I try to restart it, it is much harder to start, and it will stall if I don't put my foot on the gas to keep the RPMs up.

PLEASE HELP!

It's never on constantly. It has come on in the past, but has never stayed on for an extended period of time. It's pretty rare.

Regardles of how long it has been on, there should be a trouble code stored in the computer identifying where the problem is coming from. I recommend having the computer scanned for codes. Most parts stores will do it for free, so there is no money out of pocket. Have that done and let me know what you find.
