My car will randomly not start my question is: Knowing that the problem is indeed the brain where is this located and how do I go about fixing it?

Next to the interior fuse location(box) you will find the diagnostic connector. The controller was usually under the center console and under right side kick panel. Mitsubishi mounted them inside the car, smart or not. Ok Why don't you buy a service manual for 89 colt. It is clear and very precise. The schematics for the wiring is colored different so read the color id carefully. Ok
