I recently purchased this van and it has had a squealing noise whenever the van is first started and again whenever the AC is turned on. I had it checked out by a mechanic who told me that the lower belt was cracked so I had it replaced. The noise continues. The transmission fluid level was also low but I don't know what this has to do with the squealing noise. I'm wondering if another belt needs replacing or is the replaced belt is slipping or? Please advise. Thanks!

When I start my car, and turn on the A/C I hear a loud squealing noise coming from the A/C compressor area. The air conditioning clutch is not holding the rest of the unit properly and is making the noise for 10 seconds, then it goes away. It is a 2-300 dollar or more repair so I have not fixed it for 2 years. Although it may be adjusted using a different small part, the clutch and coil should be replaced to fix it properly. Also it may be a total future compressor internal failure. Good thing it is the end and not the beginning of the hot season in the northeast. This is an air conditioning shop or dealer repair. Have a nice day. My pleasure to share my common problem with you.
