My 94 grand caravan only starts when I turn the key and someone hits the gas tank at the same time. Do I need a new fuel pump? And is it okay to pull one out of an old van at the wrecking yard? Thanks! SIncerely, Tom A.

Yep, that is what it appears. Knocking the tank jars the pump's inner parts and gets it going. Replacing with a used one will work but I suggest replacing with new OEM since you wouldn't know how long the other used will last.

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like a pump issue, you can check the electrical connector. If you have good voltage and ground and no pump activity, suspect the pump. I have used salvage-yard parts in the past, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Can't guarantee anything about that. I'd at least put a new sock on the pump, where applicable, new fuel filter and tune-up. Any trouble codes?
